Why engage a Specialist?
What is an accredited specialist?
The Law Institute of Victoria specialist accreditation recognises where a lawyer has special competence in a particular area of legal practice.
To become a specialist, a lawyer must satisfy the accreditation criteria, then undertake and pass a rigorous assessment process, which includes comprehensive examations of their technical knowledge and practical skills.
In our experience, specialists are well-placed to offer expert and sensible advice on the most complex and demanding matters in their field of specialisation.
Why use a specialist?
The Law Institute of Victoria suggests that the specialisation scheme benefits the public by:
1 - allowing the public to easily locate lawyers with recognised special competence in a particular area;
2 - encouraging quality, speed and efficiency in legal practice; and
3 - protecting consumer rights by assisting the public to easily recognise lawyers who are trained and competent in the work they are entrusted to do.
