398 Belgrave-Gembrook Rd, Emerald

We are privileged to operate from a beautiful historical property at 398 Belgrave-Gembrook Road, Emerald.

As we have spoken with locals we find that many people feel some connection with this building and have watched with interest as its use and appearance has changed over the years.

According to various sources, the dwelling was originally established as a private residence. Between 1910 and 1924 it also served as the Post Office, operated by a Miss Treeby. The building is now included as part of Emerald's 'Heritage Walk' as the first post office.

For many years it was also the residence of Sarah Nobelius (nee Kirkpatrick), wife of Archibald Victor Nobelius, the son of well known early settlers and nursery proprietors, Carl & Emily Nobelius.

Later it became the doctor's surgery of a Doctor Maxwell.

More recently it was the office of another lawyer, Lorraine Robertson-Bauer. Locals remember the "Attorneys for Animals" sign at the front, evidence of her particular love for animals.

In 2011, the previous owners restored and improved the property, with sensitivity to its history and character.

Visitors regularly comment on the beautiful appearance of the premises and the calm, welcoming atmosphere.

We would like to find out more about the premises and eventually compile a history including photographs. If you have any information to add to our collection, we would like to hear from you.
